FAQs
Personal Injury FAQ
  • I was hit by an uninsured motorist, is there anything I can do?

If you've been injured by an uninsured driver, you may still recover for your injuries from your own insurance company. Many policies today include a Uninsured Motorist provision that allows you to seek compensation from your policy directly. There are strict guidelines to making a claim, and it can often be overwhelming.

Maes Law, P.C. is ready to help you navigate this process and ensure that you receive compensation. Any insurer is looking to offer you the least amount possible to resolve your claim, so it's important to understand your legal rights. A competant attorney is your best chance in securing an adequate resolution.

  • What should I do after I've been injured in a car accident?

The first thing you should do is make sure that you and all your passengers are okay. Try to get to safety, and call any medical services that might be needed. Second, it's important to call the police to the scene so that they can complete an investigation. Accidents happen. Trying to assign the blame after an accident is a lot easier on the scene, than after the fact. So, if you've been hit by someone, you should immediately involve law enforcement, who are trained to analyze causation.

Next, exchange information with the other driver, and make sure that you consult a physician as soon as possible. If you've been injured, it's important that a doctor can confirm that the accident was responsible. Extensive delays could hurt your chances for recovery.

Finally, consult an attorney. Maes Law, P.C. is ready and able to help, and we will help you determine whether or not you should proceed with a legal claim. An attorney can also help advise you with the costs you might have incurred, and any next steps you should consider.

  • Can I recover if I wasn't driving?

Passengers have many options for recovery, as they are often allowed to recover against multiple policies. Many insurers allow for their policies to apply toward any person in the vehicle at the time of an accident, and this may include times when the driver isn't even at fault. There are many viable options for recovery, and they may or may not be obvious, so it's important to consult an attorney who has represented thousands of clients. Maes Law, P.C. is right for you!

  • What should I do about my medical bills?

If you've been injured in an accident, it's important to note that you have every right to seek treatment for your injuries. If you have medical insurance, then you should try to cover all of your expenses right away. However, the insurance company will have a right to any money you receive from the liable party who caused the injuries, and the insurer will need to be paid back.

One of the greatest values that Maes Law, P.C. offers its clients is help in negotiating and paying back these medical bills. We will assist in consolidating your expenses, and making sure that the proper party pays for your damages.
